Today's agriculture

Some Word Of  Today's agriculture:

In 1971, at the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the best Bengali nation for thousands of years, the liberated people of this country took up arms to break the shackles of subjugation. Our freedom achieved through bloody liberation war. An independent sovereign state-Bangladesh emerged on the map of the world. Before independence, Bengal was a victim of exploitation and deprivation by the Pakistani ruling class. The economy of Bengal was below the poverty line. The dream of the father of the nation was to establish a golden Bengal of a dream free from exploitation and hunger and poverty. Bangabandhu wanted to see Bangladesh full of golden crops. That is why after independence he called for green revolution and gave utmost importance to agriculture. He forgave all the arrears of rent and interest of the farmer. He waived the rent of land up to 25 bighas forever. In 1972-73, out of the development allocation of Tk 500 crore, he kept Tk 101 crore only for the development of agriculture. Provides free seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and accessories, agricultural machinery, irrigation facilities to the farmers. In 1972, he started the process of achieving food self-sufficiency by increasing the productivity and production of agriculture by distributing 16,125 tons of high yielding rice seeds, 44 tons of jute seeds and 1,036 tons of wheat seeds at free or nominal prices. With the aim of sustainable agricultural development, he established and restructured many new institutions including Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation, Horticulture Development Board, Cotton Development Board, Seed Certification Agency, Sugarcane Research Institute. He gave first class status to the agriculturists in order to build a better agricultural system by attracting meritorious people in agricultural education in the pursuit of modern and advanced agriculture. With this landmark step of his, the meritorious children of the country became interested in the agricultural profession.

The peasants of Bengal were dearer than Bangabandhu. When Bangabandhu took over the country, 75% of the people were dependent on agriculture. He said, ‘We have to look at the village. Because the village is the main center of all development. When rural development and economic development accelerate, then the whole of Bangladesh will move forward. 'His indomitable desire was to protect the interests of farmers in any way. Because the farmers are the real heroes of the development of this country who provide food for all of us. If the ongoing demand of the farmers can be adequately ensured, the farmers will be able to invest themselves spontaneously with a lot of interest. Then the tide of development will flow.

Bangabandhu sowed the dream seed of development of the country through export of agricultural products. He sought economic liberation by exporting jute, tea, animal skins, fish, forest resources, etc. After independence, the father of the nation and his family were brutally martyred on 15 August 1975 in an ugly conspiracy of the anti-independence forces. The wheel of development comes to a halt. For a long time I did not get a chance to get out of the vicious cycle of poverty in Bengal. In the year 1996-2001, the people of Bengal brought the Bangladesh Awami League, the party that had awakened the war of liberation, to power. Krishakratna Sheikh Hasina, the successful Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu, took effective initiative to implement the unfinished plan of the Father of the Nation, embracing the agrarian mission and vision of Bangabandhu, the best Bengali of the millennium. As a result of the tireless efforts of the then Awami League government, it was the first to achieve self-sufficiency in food. As a result, Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was awarded the prestigious Ceres Medal of the United Nations. Later, with the change of government, that trend of development was severely hampered.

When this Awami League government came to power again in 2009, the wheel of development of the country started moving again. According to the United Nations, our country was one of the least developed countries in Qatar. From there, Bangladesh has surpassed all socio-economic indicators to rise to the status of a developing country. And this honor has been achieved due to the honest, efficient and courageous leadership of the present government. The country will survive if the farmers survive - the present government is working towards the goal of building a golden Bengal free from hunger, malnutrition and poverty through agricultural development. Following the increase in crop productivity, the production of food grains was 98 lakh metric tons in 1981-82, 413.25 lakh metric tons in the financial year 2016-17. Today, Bangladesh has been established as a country of surplus food from the land of food scarcity. .

As a result of the continuous efforts of the government, investment, timely policies and measures, Bangladesh is now a role model for the world in agricultural development. So far, 106 varieties of rice have been developed. Drought, salinity and waterlogging, zinc-rich and short term rice varieties have added new dimensions to agriculture. So far, 545 high yielding improved varieties of wheat, potato, maize, pulses, oil, vegetables, fruits, spices and 6 improved varieties of sugarcane, 4 improved varieties of sugar beet and 6 improved varieties of cotton are now available to the farmers. 505 advanced crop management technologies have been invented which is taking agriculture more intensively. The various policies and measures of the present government have astonished the world agriculture. Bangladesh is now a role model for agricultural development in the world. Bangladesh has now gained a prestigious seat in the world in various fields of agricultural production. Bangladesh is now the world's largest exporter of jute, second in the world in jute and jackfruit production, third in the world in vegetable production, third in the world in fish production, fourth in the world in rice production, fifth in the world in closed reservoir fish production, seventh in the world in mango production, guava and potato production in the world. Tenth in the world in production. The birth mystery of jute, dhancha and hilsa has already been discovered. Hilsa and Khirsapat Mango are recognized as a Geographical Indication (GI) products. Grain density has increased to the desired level. The present government has launched agricultural incentives and agricultural rehabilitation programs. Farmers have got the opportunity to open a bank account for 10 rupees. The incentive money given by the government is reaching the hands of the farmers. Fertilizer prices have been reduced to bring production costs to a tolerable level. The present government is the first to introduce the Agricultural Materials Assistance Card. Bangladesh has also taken a significant place in agricultural mechanization. Subsidies continue to be provided for the purchase of modern agricultural machinery considering the loss of crops in the face of natural disasters. In this case 50% to 60% is going with development assistance. Bangladesh got international recognition for revealing the mystery of jute genome to the world. The supply of surface water has given new impetus to agriculture in irrigated areas, including crop production areas. In the hope of adapting to the changing climate, the government is expanding floating vegetable cultivation in the submerged haor area. This method has been adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. And we have got the recognition of world heritage. Cultivation of short varieties of coconuts has created a coastal enclave to prevent disasters. Besides, agriculture has gained momentum in the southern part of Bangladesh. Kisan-Kisani now gets digital information services in many ways. The present government has introduced the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture.

Bangladesh's per capita income and structural excellence are visible. The development intentions of the present government We have already achieved self-sufficiency in granular food grains. I am earning foreign exchange by exporting agricultural products including vegetables, fruits, fragrant rice. Bangladesh is now a role model for the world in all aspects of agriculture, education, health, nutrition, industry and trade and infrastructural development. Now our goal is to achieve the goal of sustainable development for all by 2030, that is, to meet the needs of safe and nutritional needs and to honor the developed country of our dreams by 2041. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture has undertaken various development projects and programs. I firmly believe that we will definitely reach that goal as a result of the brilliant steps taken by the government under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
